One of my favorite parts of being an author is the marketing stuff. I mean, it makes sense, that is what I do for my day job, I design videos and ads and swags and everything in between for books. And I love brainstorming ideas for my own books. The problem is, I don’t always have the time/energy/money to bring my ideas to life. So it’s always fun when I can take on one of my ideas. Washi tape for Isla to Island, moka pot acrylic charm for Guava and Grudges, cute bookplates, even cuter stickers. I wish I could bring all my ideas to life, but maybe later down the line I’ll be able to!

I had so much fun at #yallfest this weekend!!! I was on panels with such amazing authors and illustrators (honestly I was star struck by the people I got to sit with!!) and I got to meet readers and talk about food, because of course I did. It’s also one of the few things we have where so many authors and industry people come together and it’s always so wonderful to connect with everyone. I got to see old friends, make new friends, traumatize some people with stories about growing up in Florida and my time living in a haunted house, and so much more. Thank you for an amazing weekend!!!

I’m back home and looking forward to YallFest la

I’m back home and looking forward to YallFest later this week. I love being able to connect with readers at events like this, to be able to enjoy the magic of books with so many people. I’m trying to find ways to give back to my community back in Florida, whose access to books of all kinds is being threatened every day. Being able to connect with readers and see how influential and important books can be will only serve to make me fight harder.
TBH I’ll just be going back to my roots because I led an impassioned plea against censorship in central Florida for my theater district and my drama teacher regularly got us opportunities to stand up to the school board and basically beg for arts funding.
